ABSTRACT
This research was undertaken to study the impact of education on good governance in Oredo Local Government Area. To make the study authentic, four research questions were formulated and used to guide the study. After a thorough review of relevant literature, questionnaires were used to collect valid and relevant data which were analyzed using simple percentage. The researcher finally reached a conclusion and some recommendations were made as a way of solving the problems of how effective is education to good governance.

INTRODUCTION
Background of the Study
Education is a process through which an individual develops his abilities, attitudes and other forms of behaviour which are of value to the society in which he lives.
Education is one of the basic institutions established by society to meet its essential needs. Education could be any process, formal or informal that helps develop the potentialities of human beings, including their knowledge, capabilities, behaviour patterns and values (Ijeoma 2004).
Education describes that total processes of human learning by which knowledge is imparted, faculties trained and skills developed (Urevbu 1991).
The survival of society depends on its ability to have already stock of human resources with skills and capabilities to maintain all aspects of the society.
Education is concerned with the preparation of the young ones of the societies that they can serve societies needs as adult. Education’s job is done through the process of socialization of the young that begins with the infant child in the family and extends throughout life to the young mature adult in formal or informal settings.
The functions of education span the gamut from preparing individuals to be psychologically and socially balanced productive members of the society, transmitting the culture from one generation another, selection, training and placement of individuals in occupation, bringing about change and innovation to social and personal development.
