CHAPTER ONE
INTRODUCTION
The production of bench shearing machine to deduce, and probably eliminate sufferings and most especially the need for technological break through and self reliance has been a major concern of the federal government .
Detail shearing and shaping has been a firing problem in the society from time old especially towards our loco – parenthesis. To help eradicate these problems this project write up his derived into simplicities and construction of bench shearing machine that can be used to cut up to 3mm sheet of mild steel with a treated blade made up of high carbon steel.
The machine is operated manually with a long handily know as its effort. The lengthiness of the handle helps it to increase output towards the work piece. The material to be cut must be low carbon material example mild steel, low carbon material dead mild steel or aluminum alloys.
Other things discussed in the thesis include the component parts of the bench shearing machine, design and construction.(sequence of operation) problems encountered and maintenance of the machine to help readers get used to the work done.

Several countries which has made an impact towards technological break through started by cutting, shearing, filling and assembling metal parts inform of machine that can produce the desired component that is while a large portion of the training and skills of a workshop engineer is denoted to the shaping of metal and stopping the process at the proper time.
In the workshop most of the shaping involve shearing of metal sheets, usually the conception of shearing suggest shearing the substance apart with a chisel. It involves the shearing action by the use snipe for tin sheets.
There are four different types of shearing metal sheets in the workshop this include:
GULL TONE:-
This is a big machine that can cut long range of length in metal sheet which is normally powered by hydraulic or leg for less pressure. gull tone use in time sheets or paper gull tone.
BENCH SHEAR:-
This is manually operated machine that is usually mounted on a bench or table which produce an average force when the handle is forced downward to shear out metal sheet on its blade.
CHISEL:-
This is a treated tool, made of high carbon steel bar which is sharpened at one end for cutting or shearing of metal sheets with the held of the hammer blow at the other unsharpened end of it.
TINMANE SNIPE (STRAIGHT OR CURVED)
This is a manually operated tool with a pivot closer to its blade chat moves uniformly to each other. It is used in shearing light metal sheet of about 0.1mm to 0.4mm in the tinplate work.
