The survey method was used in carrying out this research. The questionnaire was use in data collection. Data collected were analyzed using simple analytical statistics and percentages.
This project examined the various ways by which the impact of the press can act as an agent of social mobilization with particular reference to Enugu metropolis.
Some problems were highlighted like using the press to restore hope in a hopeless situation and also how the press can be used in carrying out a new social order for a country.
Suggestions were offered on how to effectively use the press to achieve the desired impact, this ranges from identifying your populations and using appropriate medium to reach them.
The rational of this study boils down to the fact that in any mobilization effort like the one currently going on in the country, the press become an important instrument of mobilization. The current enlightenment programme going on in the country in carrying out a new social order and towards the enthronement of a fourth Republic in a situation where Nigerians have lost faith in military towards a sincere transition programme as a result of the last stalemated 3rd Republic the press become necessary instrument to let the people know that all hope is not lost yet.
The press are said to be fourth organ of the government thereby “Fourth Estate of the Realm bearing in mind the important roles, it play towards the rise and fall of any nation. It is in the context of this situation that the place of national orientation Agency (NOA) can be understood.
