DESIGN AND IMPLEMENTATION OF A COMPUTERIZED FIXED ASSET MANAGEMENT SYSTEM (A CASE STUDY OF ENUGU STATE HOUSING COOPERATION)
ABSTRACT
Over the year, the Enugu State Housing Development Cooperation (ESHDC) depends on manual approaches to housing management in management in Enugu City, which this research found through the interview and pamphlets. This project therefore studied the intricacies of handling the sales of houses by manual approach. It specifically identities the loopholes inhere on prevailing methods and take care of them through a well reassigned computer soft ware system. It will cost the cooperation some desktop computers and a taken to get it networked. Therefore, with the present of well designed computer soft ware, the nagging problem of providing Enugu State and the world at large with rightful information or management respects to housing is trashed off, hence, Enugu State housing cooperation will be in a really working condition.

1.1 INTRODUCTION
As computers and program have become more of an essential part of our every day lives, his realization has grown that only software written to the very highest standard is acceptable. Computers are every where, whirring and whizzing their electronic way into our homes, schools and our lives. When this machines was first developed, the only people who could operate them are higher trained engineers and scientist to unscramble the genetic code.
But today almost everyone operates a computer as part of daily life. Individuals, may not necessarily think about the fact that are operating a computer as when the make adjustments to their digital watch this, the tells us that it is important to make computer easy to use as possible since so many people now operate this machine use that its seem almost limitless.
Housing is one of the basic needs of man for man to survive the risk of exposure to some elements of climate such as wind; rain sun and cold etc must be taken off. These elements can go along way causing damages to both mental, skin eyes. Lungs etc. thus also go along with theft to man and property.
Thus, fixes asset such as house known to be of great importance to mankind hence, the Enugu State housing development corporation has been established via the ministry of works and housing in Enugu State to ensure that the issue of accommodations in Enugu State city will become a thing of the past.
1.2 STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM
The issues that prompted the research work on a computerized fixed asset management system for Enugu State housing cooperation are:
- The manual method used in most the operation appears to be too cumbrance to the staff and customers.
- Problem of improper documentation and record keeping using the manual process.
- Rising member it fraud between the staff and the customers.
- Inefficiency and inaccuracy of record about transaction mode.
1.3 PURPOSE OF STUDY
The purpose of this study is to study the existing system with a view to design a better-computerized system to take over from the old or existing system.
1.4 SIGNIFICATION OF STUDY
The study will introduce a skill, or a computer base asset management system for Enugu State Housing Corporation to hasten various operations in the corporation.
The new system will also do the followings:
- Save time and energy of consulting people just to get one fact of the other
- Broaden people’s horizon towards investing in Enugu State.
- Enhance the elimination of 419 businesses for people will have access to the right information and at the aright time
The aims and objectives of the existing system are as follow:
- To allocate (sale or rent house to individuals or groups in Enugu State.
- To keep records of foxed assets own by the State.
- To ease housing situation in Enugu State
- To take care if the analysis of the profit of the cooperation periodically.
- To have the vital criteria’s for having house in Enugu State
- To create a system for prompt decision making to meet the purpose for which they meant etc.
