ABSTRACT
The work present a design of a computerized personal database for IMT administration. A computerized personal database for IMT administration is concerned with the computerization of personnel records appraisal of personnel on order to achieve the aims and objectives of the organization. This accounts, when and who to promote and retirement in due time.
The entrance of computer into the personal database for IMT administration will help create and maintain efficient records. This will also help to fish out “ghost workers”
The design was implemented to facilitate the personnel Information system for a IMT administration. It will be less time wasting and cheap to run.
It is expected that if full consent is given to this, it will enhance the Information of personnel record for the IMT administration.
ORGANIZATION OF WORK
This project work is primarily designed to give an insight to personal database system.
Chapter one talks about introduction to personal database system, study of problem and objectives as well as definition of the scope.
Chapter two comprises the literature review. Chapter three gives the detailed information about the existing (old) system, while chapter four and five deals with the design and implantation of new system.
Chapter six document the project work, while chapter seven summaries, conclusion and suggestions were made.

CHAPTER ONE
1.0 INTRODUCTION
The role information technology have played in various field of human endeavors can not be over emphasized. As most of humanity like banking industries, auto mobile industries etc have experience the influenced of information technology like wise the personnel office.
Personal information management (PIM) refers to both the practice and the study of the activities people perform in order to acquire, organize, maintain, retrieve and use information items such as documents (paper-based and digital), web pages and email messages for everyday use to complete tasks (work-related and not) and fulfill a person’s various roles (as parent, employee, friend, member of community, etc.). One ideal of PIM is that we always have the right information in the right place, in the right form, and of sufficient completeness and quality to meet our current need. Technologies and tools such as personal information managers help us spend less time with time-consuming and error-prone activities of PIM (such as looking for information). We then have more time to make creative, intelligent use of the information at hand in order to get things done or, simply, to enjoy the information itself.
For many people, this ideal seems far away. There are a bewildering number of tools available for managing personal information. But these tools can become a part of the problem leading to “information fragmentation”. Different devices and applications often come with their separate ways of storing and organizing information.
Interest in the study of PIM has increased in recent years. One goal in the study of PIM is to identify ways to introduce new tool support without inadvertently increasing the complexity of a person’s information management challenge. The study of PIM means understanding better how people manage information across tools and over time. It is not enough simply to study, for example, e-mail use in isolation. A related point is that the value of a new tool must be assessed over time and in a broader context of a person’s various PIM activities.
A personal information manager (PIM) is a type of application software that functions as a personal organizer. As an information management tool, a PIM's purpose is to facilitate the recording, tracking, and management of certain types of "personal information". Personal information can include any of the following:
Personal notes/journal
Address books
Lists (including task lists)
Significant calendar dates
Birthdays
Anniversaries
Appointments and meeting
Reminders
Email, instant message archives
Fax communications, voicemail
Project management features
RSS/Atom feeds
Some PIM software products are capable of synchronizing data with another PIM over a computer network (including mobile ad-hoc networks, or MANETs). This feature usually does not allow for continuous, concurrent data updates, but rather enables point-in-time updating between different computers, including desktop computers, laptop computers, and personal digital assistants.
Computer programmers have gone ahead to write a program to assist in the storage of information in a personnel office in a tertiary institution.
STATEMENT OF PROBLEM
Owing to:
The difficulties people face in keeping information/data.
Unwillingness attitude of some staff when dealing with data/information.
Fragile nature of information/data.
Difficulties people encountered when searching for a given information.
Time wasted in searching for information on packed files.
Time wasted in sorting files.
Important nature of data/information in the growth of any organization.
The need arise for the development of personal database for a tertiary institution.
PURPOSE OF STUDY
The main purpose of this study is to put to an end the difficulties people encountered during storage of data/information. This is actualized by designing personal database which is user friendly and interactive. By the time this software is designed and implemented, the difficulties encountered with manual method of keeping information will be eliminated.
SIGNIFICANCE OF STUDY
With the growth in information technology, the study offers numerous values both to the religious group and to any organization that deals on data/information.
Huge of files kept in the offices will no longer be there again because information will be stored on the computer with the help of the personal database .
Because of the easy to use nature of the personal database , any organization can easily buy it to make use of them.
AIMS AND OBJECTIVES
The aims and objectives of this project are listed below:
To develop software called personal database that will replace the manual method of storage.
To stop or eliminate the difficulties people face with manual method of storage.
To eliminated unwillingness and nonchalant attitude of some staff that deal with information in an organization.
To demonstrate increased motivation to the personnel database workers.
To ease the work associated with manual method.
To eliminate the error involved with the manual storage of data/information.
To save the time wasted when searching or sorting for a given data/information.
To remove untidy nature of most offices because of huge number of files scattered all over.
To make tertiary institution a computerized one.
All these contributed to show that personnel office is now been influence by information technology.
SCOPE OF STUDY
This project work is narrowed to Personnel department IMT Enugu. It deals with the development of personal database to help in the storage of data/information in the IMT personnel office.
It stores all general and individual information.
